About us
Our Vision
To develop the capacity, and the skills of people living in socioeconomically disadvantaged communities in Bedfordshire and surrounding areas in such a way that they are better able to identify, and help meet, their needs, and to participate more fully in society.
Our Mission and Benefits
iLearn Bedford’s purpose is beneficial because our work nurtures networking and the sharing of experiences, allowing participants’ sense of community to be strengthened.
This helps to reduce social isolation and improve confidence among our participants.
Our signposting and advocacy services support participants to become empowered in themselves and feel more confident in their skills and abilities, making happier and more socially integrated members of society who are better equipped to gain employment and contribute as taxpayers. The overall benefit achieved is fewer women suffering in silence, encouraging earlier reporting and self-intervention.
Our range of activities are beneficial because they encourage volunteering and mutual self-help, reducing social isolation and facilitating connection-building. They increase participants’ cultural capitol, fostering understanding and warmth, contributing positively to mental health.
Our activities help to improve the overall physical and mental wellbeing of participants.
ILearn Bedford’s support initiatives encourage more members of society to become better parents to their children and may inspire others to try new parenting techniques to build healthier relationships with their children.
We aim to reduce shame and stigma that could have tangible negative impacts if left unaddressed.
